About TY Bello
Toyin Sokefun-Bello, known to the world as TY Bello, is one of Nigeria's most recognized creative voices. She got her start in music in the early 2000s as part of the gospel group KUSH, before stepping out on her own with the album "Greenland" in 2008. Songs like "Greenland," "Ekundayo," "This Man," and "Funmise" turned her into a household name in Nigerian gospel music, and she's kept releasing music that speaks to faith, family, and everyday life, including "Africa Awake," "We Are Fire," "Heaven Has Come," and "The Spirit of Light."
But TY Bello is more than a musician. She's also one of Nigeria's most celebrated photographers, a member of the photography collective Depth of Field, and the eye behind portraits of three sitting Nigerian presidents, including her role as official photographer to former President Goodluck Jonathan. Her photography carries the same warmth and storytelling instinct that shows up in her songs.
Beyond music and the camera, TY Bello is known for her heart for people. She founded Link-a-Child, an initiative that supports orphanages across Nigeria, and she runs an annual photography exhibition to raise funds for children in need. Whether she's behind a mic or behind a lens, TY Bello brings the same thing to everything she touches: honesty, warmth, and a deep love for telling real stories.
